The Gym
Call it an Auxiliary Gym, Multipurpose Facility, or a Junior High Gym.
The only name you can't use is "Not Needed".
What will the auxiliary gym include?
*These details may change as the corporation has not gone through the design and bidding process.
1. A full size Basketball/Volleyball Court
2. A small number of bleachers
3. Locker Rooms
4. Restrooms
5. Weight Room
All of this space can be used for academic events and meeting purposes.
Adding a weight room will free up space to give the new Wrestling Program a home in the current weight room.
The Options
These images were presented as potential options to the School Board for the new facility on August 24, 2024.
These are examples of what could be done.
Once the referendum passes the design process and bidding process will take place.

Option 1

Presented to School Board on 8/4/24.

Did You Know?
There is only one High School in West Central Indiana with only one gym on site and not within walking distance to a second.
- Riverton Parke
When looking at all Indiana High Schools 65 miles around Riverton Parke, RP is the only school to meet this criteria. And that's where we stopped looking, RP could be the only school in the state.

Why Now?
"Why are we discussing this project now?"
The need for a gym is more pressing now than ever. RP is stretched to the limits on gym space. Elementary schools don't have the access to their own gyms they need. Students are missing out on exciting programs and opportunities. The School Board and Superintendent have worked over the last couple of years to address many of our schools' major issues including roofs, HVAC systems at all schools, windows, doors, and many other things. There continue to be things that need addressed (there always will be) but now leadership feels for the first time in a generation we have the capacity for a large project.

"Why have we not discussed it earlier?"
There have been discussions. The need for an auxiliary gym has been apparent for 30 years. Two schools, one gym just doesn't make sense. This should have been solved long ago but we have a chance to solve it now. Let's not kick the can further down the road.

"Why do we need to build it now?"
The auxiliary gym is a necessity and it will solve many problems for our students and community. Either we build it now or wait. It won't get any cheaper. Adding years to the project only increases the cost. Similar projects at other schools have cost between $6-$8.5 million.
